Whilst Sunday Mass is at the core of the parish, there are many other events that take place throughout the year. These events give the opportunity to get together to raise money for the church or one of the charities we support or to celebrate a particular occasion. 03.03.2018Lenten Breakfasts 2It is our church’s turn to ‘host’ the Lenten breakfast on 3rd March at the Methodist Church. Volunteers are required – please see John and Louise Perry or Godfrey Chesshire
02.03.2018Women’s World Day of PrayerThe service this year is being held at St Peter’s church at 7.30pm on Friday 2nd March. The service has been prepared by women from Suriname, on the theme “All God’s Creation is Very Good!” All are welcome.
26.02.2018Preparation for First Holy CommunionClasses will begin this Monday, 26th February at 4.15pm in the church hall. If you have a child (aged 8 or above) who wants to attend these classes please speak to Fr. Frank
25.02.2018Finance Meeting todayThere will be a Finance meeting (only about 10 minutes!) after mass today when Bob will run through the figures.
25.02.2018Pancake ExtravaganzaThank you to everyone who supported the recent Pancake Extravaganza which raised £145 for parish funds. Special thanks are due to Terry Biles, who supplied the food, and to Dominic Green and John McLellan who joined Terry to prepare and serve it all.
24.02.2018Lenten Breakfasts 1Breakfast and talks, organised by Churches Together in Balsall and Berkswell; on the theme of ‘What does Christianity have to say about…?’ The second session (Freedom) is this Saturday, 24th February at 8.30am in the Methodist Hall. 18.02.2018Tuesdays in LentStations of the Cross will be prayed after the 10.00am Masses on Tuesdays during Lent
18.02.2018Wednesdays in LentAfter Mass there will be the usual Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament with meditations and silent prayer for half an hour, leading up to Benediction. The meditations on Wednesday evenings during Lent will be concerned with our growing in the life of Christ. All welcome.
18.02.2018Thursdays in LentLent talks and discussions will take place in the church hall at 7.30 p.m. on Thursday evenings in Lent, after the 7.00 p.m. Mass. We will reflect together on the Parable of the Lost Son (The Prodigal Son), which is a model for the Church’s understanding of the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession). In preparation for the Easter Triduum, these talks and discussions are designed to help us to go deeper into our appreciation of the love of God. No specialist knowledge is required (just bring a Bible if you can). Why not make attendance a Lenten discipline? Come and enjoy prayerful reflection, discussion, fellowship and a cup of tea - All welcome.
18.02.2018The Sacrament of the Anointing of the SickThe Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is offered on the last Thursday of every month. All those who are challenged by their suffering in body, mind or spirit are welcome to receive this sacrament of Christ's healing. This is a practice which dates back to the earliest Church and is encouraged in scripture, where it is written: 'Are there any who are sick among you? Let them send for the priests of the Church, and let the priests pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will save the sick persons, and if they have committed any sins, their sins will be forgiven them.'.
14.02.2018LentLent begins at 7.00pm on Wednesday 14th February with the customary imposition of ashes at Mass. 11.02.2018100 ClubLast Chance! This Sunday is the last chance to renew your membership for 2018, or to join for this year. Chris will be available during pancakes. A ticket costs £15 for the year, with the chance to win £75, £45, or £30 in each of our four draws in the year.

11.02.2018Lent "Walk With Me" BookletsThe booklets, along with the Walk with Me calendars for young people are now available in the Narthex. A suggested offering of £1 to cover the cost of these items may be placed in the slot next to the Piety Shop in the Narthex. Thank you

Whilst Fr. Frank is away the only celebration through the week will be a Eucharistic Service at 10.00am on Tuesday. Normal service will be resumed on Wednesday 10th August with Mass, followed by Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and meditations until 8.00pm. There will be no First Friday Mass in August

Father Frank is on holiday this week. There will be a Eucharistic Service at 10.00am on Tuesdays while he is away. There will be no Mass with the Anointing of the Sick in July and no First Friday Mass in August.

An exceptional total of £382 was raised and that is without the Gift Aid extra reimbursement which will make the final total well in excess of £400. There is a serious food crisis in Ethiopia. Extreme weather shifts, part of the El Nino effect, mean severe drought has left millions of people in need of emergency food aid. 400,000 children are already suffering from malnutrition and we need to act now to prevent a far more terrible crisis. Please give to the collection today for CAFOD's emergency humanitarian response. And please pray for those who are suffering.

This is a very special year in the life of our parish, as our church will be consecrated on 9th July by Archbishop Bernard Longley. Preparations are already underway, both for the consecration service itself, and for various fund-raising activities. Meditations on the Eucharist, Church and mission continue after Mass on Wednesdays. This is a wonderful opportunity to deepen our knowledge and love of Christ and his Church and to find peace in the presence of Our Lord in the Sacrament of the Altar. All welcome.
