19.05.2019The Great AmenAs you will have noticed, most weeks, we are singing the Great Amen at the end of the Eucharistic Prayer. Some confusion has been expressed as to whether we should stand or kneel for the singing of the Great Amen. The General Instruction of the Roman Missal tells us that the people should remain kneeling until after the completion of the Great Amen. After the Great Amen we stand in readiness for the Lord’s Prayer. I hope this is helpful. Father Frank.
19.05.2019Parish Bulletin Rota - Thanks and Help neededAfter many years of being the stalwart of the parish bulletin editorial rota, John Perry has now hung up his editorial pen. Many thanks to John for his years of service to this task for the parish. The rota team now needs a replacement! The task involves bringing together the week's notices and liturgy arrangements into the standard template that you see each week and takes about 1-2 hrs of time per week. We aim to have 4 people on the rota at any one time so that each editor only does 3 months at a time. No previous editorial experience required! It just needs access to a Computer and email. If you can help or would like to discuss in more detail before committing please speak to one of the current editorial team: David Green, Godfrey Chesshire or Ellie Clarke.

14.04.2019Holy WeekNext week marks the beginning of Holy Week - the most important week in the Church's calendar. Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday. During Holy Week we celebrate the Easter Triduum, comprising the liturgies of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and the Easter Vigil (on Holy Saturday evening). These sacred liturgies shine forth as the high point of the Church's year. The Paschal Triduum is at the heart of all that it means to be the Church and we owe it to ourselves as Christians to be present at these key moments in the life of the worshipping community, for the sacred mysteries, which we celebrate on these three days, are the axle on which the rest of the liturgical year turns.
