06.01.2019Christmas Giving Tree Many thanks for all the gifts donated this Advent. We were able to hand over 60 gifts to Father Hudsonís Care which were gratefully received and were being immediately distributed to those in need. Thanks as well to those who helped distribute the local gifts. It was a great effort from all. Thanks Ė Claire.
06.01.2019WelcomeWelcome to Fr Chris, from Leamington Spa, who is the Celebrant at the Mass today
30.12.2018Thank youThanks once more for your cards, gifts, kindness and support. I am overwhelmed by your generosity. Also, I am grateful for all the work you put in to ensuring that there is a Eucharistic presence in this place. Together, by faithfully assembling week by week, we ensure that we witness to the love, light and hope of Christ and his in-breaking Kingdom. That is the distinctive and incomparable gift we are called to offer to the world through our assembly as the Church, but, in order for this to happen, many have to give of their time and energy in raising funds and being responsible for day to day administration and maintenance. May the Lord bless you for your hard work on behalf of Christ and his Kingdom. It is a privilege and a joy to share with you in this service. Fr Frank.
30.12.2018Father FrankFr Frank will be taking his post-Christmas break from Wednesday of this week, returning on Thursday 10th January 2019.

16.12.2018Statement from the Archdiocese of BirminghamOver the years Blessed Robert Grissold has generously allowed the local community to use its land when needed despite there never being public access over the site (except the public footpath that runs to Barratts Lane). The parish in conjunction with the Archdiocese has reviewed the future of the site and its security. In those circumstances it has been decided to fence the site. We have no desire to stop legitimate public access and therefore the public footpath remains available for all people wishing to use it. We understand that there may be some inconvenience but we hope that those who are looking for public open space will be able to find it in more formally laid out places in the vicinity.
16.12.2018Carol Service 2We will need some mince pies to eat while we are supping our mulled wine. If you are able to help with these please put your name and quantity on the register in the Narthex. Thank you.

09.12.2018CAFOD - World GivingI have put some "World Gifts" booklets at the back of the church, from which you can choose gifts for everyone who does not really need anything for Christmas! The gifts start at £4 for a queen bee, providing the family with honey! £7 buys a simple mosquito net, treated with strong repellent which will keep families safe from disease. You can buy goats, pigs, llama's or even a cow providing milk, manure, and wool for clothing. Producing piglets, calves etc that can be then given to other families to continue the cycle. There are many more gifts that can help reduce poverty. Please take a booklet or look online at cafod.org.uk/Give/world-gifts. Thanks. Chris Lynn
09.12.2018The FieldThe Diocesan Trustees have ordered the erection of a fence in the land adjacent to the church, in order to identify the ownership of the field, also maintaining the public footpath at its present position.
07.12.2018First Friday DevotionsOn the First Friday of every month there is a Mass of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. St Margaret Mary received the vision of Christ which led to the devotion to the Sacred Heart. At the Consecration of our church a relic of Saint Margaret Mary was sealed in our altar giving us a special connection with this holy devotion. During the Year of Priests, the Mass on the Votive Mass of the Sacred Heart will be offered up for the Priests of the Archdiocese.

Fancy a night out for a really good cause to see the National Grid UK choir and friends (including our own Ian and Hannah Clarke) perform in a variety evening in Warwick? You do, well read on! Our parish music director sings with the UK National Grid choir who have decided to step in when Round Oak school's Music of Life programme was a casualty of government funding cuts. Round Oak school works with children with special educational needs and this programme is essential in helping them build confidence, presentation, public speaking and team work skills. It also helps with memory and is great for positive mental health. Click on the link to find out more and book your tickets!

Next Week (14th Ė 20th May) is Christian Aid Week. The more people willing to collect on behalf of this worthy cause the easier it would be for the village as a whole. Please consider during mass today whether you could spend a couple of hours to deliver and collect envelopes from a road near to you. Then before you leave church put your name on the sheet in the Narthex. Alternatively give Godfrey Chesshire a call during this week (532352). Thank you.

On the first Friday of every month we celebrate a votive Mass of the Sacred Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ. We have a special devotion to this practice at Blessed Robert Grissold because the relic of St Margaret Mary, who received a vision of Christís Sacred Heart, was placed in our altar at the consecration of our church. Great benefits are promised to those who are faithful in their devotion to the Sacred Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Meditations before the Blessed Sacrament on Wednesday evenings continue to reflect on the writings of Francis Xavier Nguyen Van Thuan who in 2000 Pope John Paul II chose to preach a course of Spiritual Exercises for himself and the Curia. Archbishop Van Thuan majors on "hope" in his addresses - a hope that he discovered during his 13 years imprisonment for his faith, nine of which were spent in solitary confinement. In this week's meditations Van Thuan reflects on the beautiful mystery of the Church. In our prayerful stillness and reflection before the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar we can find healing and peace and be present to the Christ who is present to us and feeds us with the life of heaven in and through the Eucharist - the Sacrament which forms the Church. All welcome.

Solihull MBC is currently consulting on proposals to cut the school bus service that connects Balsall Common to St George & Teresa, St Peterís and Arden Schools. This will have a negative long term impact on the ability of children from Balsall Common to access the Boroughís Catholic Schools (as well as increasing car journeys, congestion and pollution). We would urge parishioners to respond to the Councilís consultation either on-line at http://www.solihull.gov.uk/consultation or in writing to either School Transport, Council House, Manor Square, Solihull B91 3QB or via email edtrans@solihull.gov.uk . The deadline for comments is 28th April
