October is the month of the Rosary and the Rosary is Trinitarian and Christ-centred, but it is also a Marian prayer. In the Rosary, we are happy to honour the mother of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the words of the Archangel Gabriel and her cousin Elizabeth: "Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women." And in the Rosary, we meditate and reflect on the important events in Our Lord's life through the eyes of Mary. Another prayer that makes the Rosary Marian is the concluding prayer - the "Hail Holy Queen." But the two most important prayers of the Rosary are the Lord's Prayer and the Hail Mary. As St. Louis de Montfort said: "How could there possibly be any more pleasing prayers more to Almighty God and the Blessed Virgin, or any that are easier, more precious or more helpful than these two prayers?"

As I said last week, Pope Francis has asked us to pray more intensely for the Church, especially during this month of October. He asks us to pray the Rosary every day with the intention that the Blessed Virgin Mary will help the Church and defend her against the attacks of the Devil. Pope Francis invites us to conclude our recitation of the Rosary with an ancient invocation to Our Lady - the Sub tuum praesidium, as well as reciting the prayer to St Michael, the Archangel. We will add these prayers to our Rosary prayers at Mass this month and, I hope, retain them thereafter as we continue to offer up these prayers daily. To assist us I have printed the prayers below: We fly to thy patronage, O holy Mother of God; despise not our petitions in our necessities, but deliver us always from all dangers, O glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen. St. Michael, the Archangel, defend us in the day of battle; be our safeguard against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the other evil spirits who prowl through the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

While they are there, they will remember you all. Please do remember them in your prayers. They are willing to take your petitions and light candles for you. £5 is enough. Tuesday's Mass commemorates St Margaret Mary, whose relic was placed in the altar at the Consecration of our church. Margaret Mary was the saint who received mystical revelations concerning the Sacred Heart of Jesus leading to a devotion which has spread throughout the world.

After 17 years as Parish Priest, Mgr McHugh will be retiring from Ss George and Teresa on 16th September. In order to thank him and wish him well, the parish has organised a farewell celebration on Sunday 7th October, 3.00-5.00pm, in the Dorridge Parish Centre, to include light refreshments. This will be followed by Benediction at 5.00pm. Blessed Robert Grissold parishioners are cordially invited to join this celebration
The school playground and car park at St George and St Teresa School is in desperate need of resurfacing. The Board of Governors would like some help, as there are no funds in the school budget to pay for this. Does anyone know or have contact with a company that could tarmac some, if not all, of the areas required free of charge? This could possibly be as part of a community project. If so, could they get in touch with Alan Devoy (Parent Governor) 07792318061

On the First Friday of every month there is a Mass of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. St Margaret Mary received the vision of Christ which led to the devotion to the Sacred Heart. At the Consecration of our church a relic of Saint Margaret Mary was sealed in our altar giving us a special connection with this holy devotion. During the Year of Priests the Mass on the Votive Mass of the Sacred Heart will be offered up for the Priests of the Archdiocese.
