Confirmation
The Sacrament of Confirmation is a key moment in the life of a young Christian. It is now that the responsibilities of following Christ are publicly acknowledged by the individual for the first time.

The rite of Confirmation is a service where a child “confirms” the promises made at their Baptism. The sign the Church makes is prayer and the anointing with chrism. The Holy Spirit touches the candidate with his gifts.

The preparation for the Sacrament must be undertaken with great care, to ensure that the candidates know what they are doing and can begin to come to terms with the way they will be expected to live their lives.

The celebration of the sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated for all those in the third Year at secondary school (Year 9) and are members of our parish. Preparation for the sacrament will be done at the parish over the course of several weeks. Sponsors are asked to participate in these sessions. Confirmation is administered by the bishop or a priest delegated by him.

If your child is not making his Confirmation through the catholic school he or she attends and you would like to enrol them in our confirmation preparation programme, please contact our parish priest via the Contact Us Page here.
