Holy Week
Next week marks the beginning of Holy Week - the most important week in the Church’s calendar. Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday. During Holy Week we celebrate the Easter Triduum, comprising the liturgies of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and the Easter Vigil (on Holy Saturday evening). These sacred liturgies shine forth as the high point of the Church’s year. The Paschal Triduum is at the heart of all that it means to be the Church and we owe it to ourselves as Christians to be present at these key moments in the life of the worshipping community, for the sacred mysteries, which we celebrate on these three days, are the axle on which the rest of the liturgical year turns

Consecration Plans
As you know, our church is to be consecrated by the Archbishop on 9th July this year. There is a lot of work to be done to prepare for this special occasion, and four teams of parishioners have already started planning for three key areas: Maintenance, Communication and Fundraising, and Pastoral and Liturgical arrangements, and post-consecration celebrations. There will be plenty of jobs both large and small as we get closer to the date, so everyone will have an opportunity to get involved. The first of our big fundraising events is a Gala Concert on 7th May, with music from various special guests, and Don Maclean as compere – put the date in your diary, and tell your friends!

Many thanks to everyone who attended the recent meeting on preparing for the consecration of our church in July 2016. The next stage will take place at a second parish meeting on Thursday 19th November at 7.30pm. At this meeting we will decide which of these activities we will take forward and set up teams to ensure they happen. This is an important step on our journey as it also will enable us to determine how much money we will need to raise to fund what we decide to do. Please make every effort to attend and if you missed the first meeting, it’s not too late to get involved! Parish Boundaries
For some time the Parish Priests of Our Lady of the Wayside, St. George and St. Teresa and St. Augustine have been considering making some changes to Parish Boundaries to run along the lines of the M42 and M40. These pastoral changes are fairly minor, except for the part of Hockley Heath, currently in Our Lady of the Wayside, which will go into the Parish of St. George and St. Teresa, as it is closer to Dorridge. The new arrangements will impact on school catchment areas and should make the admission procedures simpler in the long run. From the point of view of school admissions, Blessed Robert Grissold is part of the St George and St Teresa catchment area. The new arrangement will impact on school admissions from 1st September 2016. The Parish Boundaries have been approved by the Archdiocese and come into effect now.

Ed O'Connell, a Columban Father, has been working there for 15 years and he has already made a huge difference to the lives of many children and their mothers. There is still a lot of work to do and our donations will help Fr to continue with this work.

Children’s Liturgy
We are looking for new people to act as helpers for our Children's Liturgy. The only job requirement is that you be over age 18! Each helper would only be asked to do one session per half-term and there is no homework. It's a fun and easy way to support the growing church! Please let Kathryn Driffield (07969 927262) know if you're interested
