In today's Gospel we hear of a man who returned everything he had ever been given to his master - and yet he was censured. He was blamed, not for misusing the gifts he had been given, but rather for not having used them at all. This Gospel passage encourages us to reflect on how we use the gifts and talents we have received from God. The Parable of the Talents teaches us that true religion - a true response to Christ's call to be his disciples - involves risk, adventure and enterprise. To use God-given gifts and talents aright is to share in the joy of the kingdom.

The final total collected is an amazing £377.00 and this is without the added gift aid that will bring the total up to over £400. I am sure that this money with all the money collected from other parishes will really help. Chris|
|26.10.2017||The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick||The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is offered on the last Thursday of every month. All those who are challenged by their suffering in body, mind or spirit are welcome to receive this sacrament of Christ's healing. This is a practice which dates back to the earliest Church and is encouraged in scripture, where it is written: 'Are there any who are sick among you? Let them send for the priests of the Church, and let the priests pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will save the sick persons, and if they have committed any sins, their sins will be forgiven them.'|

Any amount that you can give will be greatly appreciated and will certainly transform lives. Thank you in advance for your continual generosity. Thank you so much to everyone who gave me teddies or soft toys to go out to war-torn areas of the world. In July, I took a car load bursting at the seams (including your donations) to the "Teddies Trust" in Wales. From there, In August 10,000 teddies and soft toys have been shipped to Syria to towns and villages all over the country. These teddies will bring comfort and hopefully some joy to otherwise very bleak lives. This is an ongoing charity and if anyone would like to support it, then please leave teddies and soft toys at the back of church and I will collect them and take them on the first part of their journey. November is the month the Church especially remembers to pray for the dead. Today is Remembrance Sunday when we pray for the repose of the souls of all those who have lost their lives as a result of war and we continue to pray for our deceased loved ones throughout the month of November. Scriptures and the Church teach that we can help the departed through the offering of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for them, consequently Masses will be offered up for the Holy Souls of our loved ones over the course of November. If you wish for your loved ones to be included in these prayers, please find envelopes for your prayer intentions and offerings at the back of the church. Please write the names of your loved ones on the back of the envelope and place them, with your offering, in the tray in the sanctuary.

The Plan is currently underway and during the month of November every household in Balsall Parish and Balsall Common will receive a Household Questionnaire which we would encourage them to complete and return in the Freepost envelope to Stratford-Upon-Avon District Council. The questionnaire seeks their ideas and opinions on a variety of issues within the Balsall Parish and Balsall Common area. Their ideas and opinions will create the Balsall Parish Neighbourhood Development Plan. A planning policy document which will state which community facilities should be developed, upgraded or enhanced from 2019 to 2033.
Thursday 2nd November 7.00 p.m. The Church, after rejoicing on Wednesday with those who are in heaven, prays on Thursday for all who, in the purification of purgatory, await the day when they too will join the company of the saints. We can help the departed through the offering of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for them. There our envelopes for your prayer intentions and offerings at the back of the church. Please write the names of your loved ones on the back of the envelope and place them, with your offering, in the tray in front of the altar. The Mass will be offered up for all your loved ones which you have named at the Mass of the Solemnity of All Souls and at Masses throughout the month of November

On the 7th October the Church celebrated the Memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary and October is the month of the Rosary and it is a good time, therefore, to renew our devotion to our Lord and our Blessed Lady through this rich source of prayer. We will offer up a decade of the Rosary before the Sunday Mass and after every weekday Mass throughout the month of October. According to tradition, current since the 15th century, the devotion of the Rosary was founded by St. Dominic in the course of his missionary work. Since then many saints have found the Rosary to be an indispensable aid in their spiritual life. I will be happy to help anyone who requires any assistance in learning to pray the Rosary.
