Welcome to our new website. 2016 was a very special year for our parish. In July of that year, our church was consecrated by Archbishop Bernard Longley. To commemorate this event, our website was redesigned and modernised to work across a variety of devices such as laptops, desktops, tablets and smart phones. As always, we are dependant on you to provide feedback on this site so please let us know what you think using the contact us page here.
Stop Press! Our parish church was consecrated on 9th July 2016. Come back soon to see a full report on the preparations and the Consecration Mass presided over by Archbishop Bernard Longley here

The Kingdom of God is a mystery even though it is in our midst. The kingdom of God is something altogether new which transforms the old and familiar. Bread becomes the Body of Christ, wine becomes his Blood. And the coming of God's kingdom is God's work - it is a mystery and it comes mysteriously, night and day, while we sleep, when we are awake, making all things new, growing in our midst to produce a harvest that gives glory to God and that harvest is the harvest of our transformed lives, changed, made new, we know not how.

25.09.2016IntinctionIt has been brought to my attention that some are dipping the consecrated host into the precious blood of Christ at Holy Communion. This practice is forbidden. If you do not wish to drink from the chalice then just receive Communion in one kind. To receive Communion in one kind is to receive a full Communion. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. I'll have the sponsorship form with me after mass today and next week, or you can donate online at our page: https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/team/ellie-and-hannah. Thank you. Ellie Clarke

June is the month of the Sacred Heart. The Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus falls on Friday 8th June - which we will celebrate with a Mass at 10.00am. Great benefits are promised to those who practice this devotion. Also, during this month, we can seek to deepen our devotion to the love of God revealed in the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus - a devotion encouraged by St Margaret Mary, whose relic rests in our altar. We might even consider consecrating ourselves to the Heart of our Lord Jesus Christ. To this end I have printed, in this week's newsletter, a Prayer of Consecration, written by St Margaret Mary, which we could pray daily throughout the month of June and especially before the Mass.

Every last Thursday in the month there is an opportunity for those who are sick to partake of this sacrament. The practice of being anointed with oil as a powerful prayer for strengthening and healing dates back to the earliest Church. Scripture bears witness to this when it says: "Are there any who are sick among you? Let them send for the priests of the Church and let the priests pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will save the sick persons, and the Lord will raise them up; and if they have committed any sins their sins will be forgiven them."

Our Choral Energy concert last week was a great success. A full house enjoyed music from The National Grid UK choir 'The Gridtones', our own choir, The Cecilias and other singing groups and soloists. The interval bar was complemented by a sale of baked goods courtesy of The Gridtones' own Misha Bruce. We made a total of £1267.70 which will be split between our parish and National Grid's chosen charity, The Alzheimer's Society UK. National Grid will take that donation and double it so well done to everyone involved.
