Welcome to our new website. 2016 was a very special year for our parish. In July of that year, our church was consecrated by Archbishop Bernard Longley. To commemorate this event, our website was redesigned and modernised to work across a variety of devices such as laptops, desktops, tablets and smart phones. As always, we are dependant on you to provide feedback on this site so please let us know what you think using the contact us page here.

Today in the Gospel we hear how the apostles Peter, James and John were given a glimpse of Christ's glory on the Mount of the Transfiguration - the same glimpse of glory that we are all given when we gather for the Mass, for in and through the sacred mysteries of the Eucharist we ascend to the heavenly places where, with Angels and Archangels and all the host of heaven, we worship the Beloved Son of God who sits at the right hand of the Father. God, the Holy Spirit, gathers us into the cloud of his glory. We listen to him in the scriptures. We feed on him in the Sacrament of the altar. No wonder the disciples "kept silence." "Master, it is wonderful for us to be here."

02.03.2018Women’s World Day of PrayerThe service this year is being held at St Peter’s church at 7.30pm on Friday 2nd March. The service has been prepared by women from Suriname, on the theme “All God’s Creation is Very Good!” All are welcome.
26.02.2018Preparation for First Holy CommunionClasses will begin this Monday, 26th February at 4.15pm in the church hall. If you have a child (aged 8 or above) who wants to attend these classes please speak to Fr. Frank
25.02.2018Finance Meeting todayThere will be a Finance meeting (only about 10 minutes!) after mass today when Bob will run through the figures.
25.02.2018Pancake ExtravaganzaThank you to everyone who supported the recent Pancake Extravaganza which raised £145 for parish funds. Special thanks are due to Terry Biles, who supplied the food, and to Dominic Green and John McLellan who joined Terry to prepare and serve it all.

18.02.2018Wednesdays in LentAfter Mass there will be the usual Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament with meditations and silent prayer for half an hour, leading up to Benediction. The meditations on Wednesday evenings during Lent will be concerned with our growing in the life of Christ. All welcome.
18.02.2018Thursdays in LentLent talks and discussions will take place in the church hall at 7.30 p.m. on Thursday evenings in Lent, after the 7.00 p.m. Mass. We will reflect together on the Parable of the Lost Son (The Prodigal Son), which is a model for the Church’s understanding of the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession). In preparation for the Easter Triduum, these talks and discussions are designed to help us to go deeper into our appreciation of the love of God. No specialist knowledge is required (just bring a Bible if you can). Why not make attendance a Lenten discipline? Come and enjoy prayerful reflection, discussion, fellowship and a cup of tea - All welcome.
18.02.2018The Sacrament of the Anointing of the SickThe Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is offered on the last Thursday of every month. All those who are challenged by their suffering in body, mind or spirit are welcome to receive this sacrament of Christ's healing. This is a practice which dates back to the earliest Church and is encouraged in scripture, where it is written: 'Are there any who are sick among you? Let them send for the priests of the Church, and let the priests pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will save the sick persons, and if they have committed any sins, their sins will be forgiven them.'.

After Mass there will be the usual Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament with meditations and silent prayer for half an hour, leading up to Benediction.
